ARGH!
This post is about literature but not what we read for class. I am currently reading the series 'Twilight' and was at work reading the last of the series 'Breaking Dawn' and one of my co workers asked what i was reading so i told her. She then subjected me to a lecture on how i shouldn't be reading superficial books but i should read classics. I don't understand how that makes sense. Just because a book is a fad doesn''t mean it isn't good. Shakespeare could be considered a fad but his books are still sensational, and even though Twilight isn't a classic and can be called just a silly story written to make money doesn;t mean we cant enjoy them. I find that while i cant relate to the story i love to get lost in the story because it is diferent. I find it poor logic to say that because a book isn't a clasic it can't be enjoyable.

Fire and Ice
Fire and Ice
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
Robert Frost
I don't know why but i love this poem. it is by far my favorite. i love the imagery it creates in my mind. the combo of fire and ice seems enchanting in some inexplicable way. i know the poem is not a happy one but that is the beauty of it i think.

Nostalgia
so this blog really isn't about kate chopin writing so much as it about what it reminded me of. When i was a senior in high school we read The Story of an Hour and analyze it kind of like what we did in this class, so when we were told to read the story it made me think of high school and how much different life is now. When i was in high school i thought I had everything figured out. I knew what i wanted to do and who I wanted to be but more than a year later nothing turned out like I planned. In high school i wanted to be a sociologist and go to Montana State. Now i am going to be transferring to Eastern to become a kindergarten teacher. I wanted to live in a dorm, now I have my own apartment. It's seems like whenever I make big plans for my life they always end up differently, but i guess that is okay. I like my life, in fact I love my life so i guess change can be good after all. Maybe it's better to not know the answers right now.
